ASD Consortium Alcohol was established in 2012 and had prepared three full substance dossiers for the biocidal active substances Ethanol, 1-Propanol and 2-Propanol for PT 1, PT 2 and PT 4. These dossiers were submitted to ECHA in January 2015 and all three dossiers were found complete by ECHA in summer 2015.
A lot of ASD members took the opportunity and are listed now as product and substance suppliers on the Art. 95 for the respective alcohols.
With this act, since 01.09.2015, the supply of alcohols as biocidal active substances in Europe is safeguarded.
With Brexit in January 2021 the need arose for the ASD-consortium to submit active substance dossiers to the UK HSE for 1-Propanol, 2-Propanol and Ethanol to be able to stay legal in the UK market. The three dossiers for 1-Propanol, 2-Propanol and Ethanol are submitted to HSE. With the successful submission of the dossiers, ASD consortium is able to issue LoA’s for UK legal requirements for all interested third parties.
Currently, ASD consortium has 37 full members (product suppliers) and 25 associated members (substance suppliers).
By sharing costs for the dossiers and other BPR related costs ASD-consortium offers an easy and economical way to fulfill legal requirements of the BPR and ensures availability of the three biocidal active substances.
